How to set your phone extension status using 3CX

A guide to changing your phone extension status accordingly using 3CX web client.

First, open the web client for 3CX. You can find your login details in your welcome email. If you can't locate this, contact your system administrator.

Go to Settings > Call Forwarding. You will see a variety of status options listed in a new panel.

For each status, you will be able to see what will happen if you do not answer the call. For example, in 'Available' you can choose a no-answer timeout, which will then forward your call to voicemail. This is slightly different in 'Do Not Disturb', which will always forward calls to voicemail when this is the chosen status.

From a drop-down menu in each list of status settings, you can choose where you would like to forward calls to. For example, you can choose to forward your calls to reception, voicemail and so on. After choosing your behaviours, simply choose the appropriate status and your system will behave accordingly.

You can easily switch between your current status and DND by clicking on the icon that shows your current status in the grey bar at the top of the screen.

There are two ways that you can switch between the other statuses.

Go to the top corner of the web client, and click the arrow beside your current status description. Here, you will see a list of all of the statuses and you can choose the correct one.

Alternatively, you can also do this from the Windows desktop client. Simply go to the upper corner and, once again, select the arrow beside your current status description. and change your status accordingly.

Finally, the 'Exceptions' feature allows you to specify specific rules for call display numbers.

Type in the caller ID of an unwanted caller and, from the drop down menu, select 'All Hours' followed by 'Busy'. Click 'Save', and this caller will always be overridden regardless of your status.

On the other hand, if a client is particularly important, this feature works in reverse - you can choose from the drop-down menus to ensure that you always receive calls from certain numbers regardless of your status.
